Children and issues affecting them have been the subject of numerous research papers by graduate students of Adddis Ababa University (AAU) This book brings together chapters based on condensed and revised of a few notable examples of theses (and a dissertation) that have a broad focus on child rights issues produced in different departments of AAU The chapters are based on collaborative efforts between the graduate students and their advisors and were reworked on the basis of comments from the editors The chapters deal with children's work on the street child marriage the wellbeing of children living with stepparents and child poverty Investigating the lived world of children the chapters demonstrate the complexities in translating global norms of child rights into locally situated realities
The Center for Human Rights is an autonomous academic unit of Addis Ababa University It promotes empirically informed scholarship on human rights integrating theoretical and methodological approaches from various academic disciplines The Center also offers MA and PhD programs in the interdisciplinary study of human tights.
